Hahaa, I actually am one of those trainers that nicknames their pokemon xD ; . It's always awesome to trick your adversaries by, say, naming a Bronzong CHIKORITA, and it's always great to pwn with something named Fluffykins. Not that I have a Fluffykins...8D ;
I have a Pachirisu named Frenchfry. xD
I always nickname my Pokemans. B'D
Makes 'em seem more personal.
(Well except for my Rayquaza...I just named him "Rayquaza" because that is such a pwnsome name. xDD)
My brother took my GameBoy once and named one of my Zubats "Filter."

The very first original episode
So: I got to watch the original pilot episode of Pokemon when I was like...five, I think. Maybe six. And the part I remember most to this day is where Ash was running late to meet the professor, literally running, and just as he arrives, amidst this big crowd of people watching him choose his pokemon, he mom catches up and shouts this famous line as he leaves on his journey:
Lol. I knew a boy who nicknamed all of his characters with cuss words. *sigh* lol. I usually give them nicknames corresponding with characters in my own stories.
Machi's so intense. She feels comfortable enough with Torchic now to spaz out. x3
